Materials for Molds

OSC can also provide a cylindrical form of cemented carbide or CVD-SiC as materials for a glass lens mold.

Porous SIC materials cannot be used for molds that require mirror surfaces, but SiC can be used as a mold by depositing SiC by CVD. In addition, thicker CVD films can improve the production efficiency of lens molds. We are capable of depositing films of 5 mm or more. Also, its size is very large, Φ300.

CVD-SiC is our original model that is tuned for glass lens molds.

Q: There is less choice for precise mold material.

A: CVD-SiC is our original model that is tuned for glass lens molds.
There are 3 types depending on the particle size; TM01, TM02 and TM03, and the film thickness is 0.3 to 5 mm.
CVD film formation for large-diameter lens molds with a sag exceeding 5 mm is available by our skills and expertise.

Supply shapes are prepared as follows
1. rod shape
2. If the lens shape depth exceeds the CVD thickness, 1 mm CVD is deposited on the approximate shape material.(figure.1)
